New treaty with Russia to boost socio-economic development - South Ossetian Premier

TSKHINVAL, December 25. /TASS/. A new treaty on allied ties and integration between South Caucasian Republic of South Ossetia and Russia will not only ensure security, but also develop socio-economic sector in the republic, South Ossetian Prime Minister Domenti Kulumbegov told TASS on Thursday.

“The new treaty [on allied ties and integration] is very important not only for ensuring security, but also for socio-economic development of the republic. Now a draft accord is being developed, a special working group made of members of presidential political council is working on it. Therefore, I do not want to anticipate events and say which benefits a treaty will bring to us, but I believe that the document is important and significant for us,” the premier said.

“I am convinced that the working group will draft a document which not affecting our Constitution will meet interests of Russia and South Ossetia,” he added.

Talks on the new treaty will be completed by late January 2015, said Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov who has recently been on a working visit in Tskhinval. The two countries plan to sign it in early February.
