WARSAW, December 17. /TASS/. Ukraine hopes Poland will support its European Union bid and help in country’s reforms, President Petro Poroshenko said at a news conference with Polish counterpart Bronislaw Komorowski on Wednesday.
He said Poland could support reforms “through consultations and an exchange of experience, in order to avoid mistakes and implement the main provisions of the Association Agreement, as well as provide for financial and economic coordination.”
The Ukrainian leader said 20% of industries in the embattled eastern Donetsk and Luhansk regions were not functioning.
“Poland has always demonstrated solidarity with Ukraine and backs it within the framework of major institutions of the Western world — NATO and the European Union,” Komorowski said.
“Financial assistance is a major element of support for Ukraine in the current difficult economic situation,” he said. “We are open for all forms of support for Ukraine on its difficult road towards European integration,” he said.
The president suggested help in reform of local governments, saying it was “a source of Poland’s success.”
