Russian ambassador summoned to Danish Foreign Ministry over plane incident

Last Saturday, the Swedish media asserted that a plane of Denmark’s Cimber Company had been close to an air collision with a foreign plane whose transponder was allegedly turned off

COPENHAGEN, December 15 /TASS/. Russian Ambassador to Denmark Mikhail Vanin was summoned to the Danish Foreign Ministry on Monday over alleged Russian military plane incident over the Baltic Sea.

Last Saturday, the Swedish media asserted that a plane of Denmark’s Cimber Company had been close to an air collision with a foreign plane whose transponder (an aircraft identification instrument) was allegedly turned off. Swedish Defense Minister Peter Hultquist said that the aircraft was owned by Russia.

“The Danish Foreign Ministry expressed concern to the Russian diplomat,” a source at the Russian embassy in Copenhagen told TASS.

“The Russian ambassador, in turn, urged the Danish side not to call the absence of facts as facts. He also said that Danish professionals from the SAS and Cimber air companies had denied press allegations about the incident,” the source explained.

The Russian ambassador to Stockholm was summoned to the Swedish Foreign Ministry for the same reason on Monday.
