Over 20 people put on wanted list for killing Maidan protesters, embezzling state funds

Prosecutor General said that these people are “officials led by Viktor Yanukovych who served between 2010 to February 2014”

KIEV, December 6. /TASS/. Ukraine has placed 22 people on the wanted list for their suspected role in shooting Maidan protesters and embezzling state funds, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Vitaly Yarema has told the Ukrayina TV channel.

“We have put 22 people on the wanted list in line with criminal proceedings of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Interior Ministry. These are mainly criminal proceedings, linked to the Maidan shooting, hindrance of expression of citizens’ will in late 2013-early 2014 and criminal proceedings on embezzlement of state funds,” Yarema said.

Yarema said that these people are “officials led by Viktor Yanukovych who served between 2010 to February 2014.”

“Due to their criminal activities, large sums of money were taken out of Ukraine,” Yarema said, adding that around $2 billion was found on the suspects’ bank accounts.

In November, Ukraine’s President Pyotr Poroshenko called on security officials to speed up the investigation into the crimes committed against the participants of Maidan protests in downtown Kiev.
