Foreigners will hold three ministerial posts in Ukraine’s new government

KIEV, December 2 /TASS/. Foreigners will hold three ministerial posts in Ukraine’s new government whose line-up was adopted by parliament on Tuesday.

U.S. national Natalya Yaresko, the head of the Horizon Capital investment fund, was appointed Ukraine’s finance minister.

Alexander Kvitashvili, Georgia’s former minister of public health and social security, became the Ukraine’s health minister while native of Lithuania Aivaras Abromavichus was appointed the new minister of economy.

“We are going to work hard because Ukraine is a poor and corrupt country. We will have to use radical methods,” Abromavichus said in his speech at Verkhovnaya Rada on Tuesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, Ukrainian President PetroPoroshenko signed a decree on granting Ukrainian citizenship to Yaresko, Kvitashvili and Aivaras Abromavichus.

“I’ve signed a decree on granting the Ukrainian citizenship to three foreigners: Natalya Yaresko, Alexander Kvitashvili and Aivaras Abromavichus,” Poroshenko wrote on his page in Twitter.

"I strongly believe that we should use the best international experience to as far as including the representatives of countries that are friendly to Ukraine in the government,” Poroshenko said in his speech in parliament.

He also congratulated Ukrainians on electing a new pro-European government.

“I would like to congratulate the Ukrainians on forming a pro-European government,” the head of state wrote in Twitter on Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday, Ukraine’s parliament registered a bill on amendments to some national laws concerning the rules of hiring foreigners to work at state bodies in accordance with Ukraine’s state interests.

The bill had been proposed by the PetroPoroshenko bloc.
