KIEV, November 27. /TASS/. A draft resolution on terminating Ukraine’s membership of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and its bodies has been submitted to the Ukrainian parliament.

The Verkhovna Rada’s website says the bill was initiated by the leader of the Batkivshchyna party, Yulia Tymoshenko, and member of the party’s Political Council’s Presidium, Boris Tarasyuk.

The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers on November 14 abolished the office of the special commissioner for cooperation with Russia, the CIS, EurAsEC and other regional associations.

Earlier, President Petro Poroshenko recalled his envoy to the CIS, Anatoly Dron. In Minsk, the decision to recall the envoy was described as “purely technical.”

“That’s a purely technical decision. Belarus, which holds the rotating presidency of the CIS, is cooperating with Ukraine’s office at the CIS Executive in Minsk,” Belarusian Foreign Ministry spokesman Dmitry Mironchik said.
