TIRASPOL, November 12. /TASS/. Ukrainian border guards blockade transport moving to Transdniestria, the non-recognized republic’s State Customs Committee said on Wednesday.

“Over 40 trucks moving to Transdniestria with cargoes have been detained on Ukraine’s external borders (at the checkpoints with adjacent European countries, Russia and the Republic of Belarus). Unfounded demands are made to carriers: they are demanded to present additional documents and information on cargoes and their receivers,” the Customs Service’s press service said.

In March 2014 Transdniestria accused Ukraine of the republic’s blockade. The border between Ukraine and Transdniestria was closed to the residents who had Russian citizenship.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on the attempts of economic and transport blockade of Transdniestria. Obstacles were created under the pretext of instable situation in Ukraine, the ministry said.

“Such actions will contradict the letter and spirit of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Russia and Moldova,” the ministry said.

"Moldova and Ukraine have coordinated actions to impose an economic and transportation blockade against Transdniestria in a bid to force it to make concessions at negotiations and give up its foreign policy priorities. These attempts may increase regional tensions,” it said.
