Ukraine deports Russian journalist — Ukrainian media

Russian journalist Yevgeny Kiselyov has a permanent residence permit in Ukraine and makes his own program called “Inter” on Ukrainian television

KIEV, October 23 /TASS/. Ukraine is going to deport Russian journalist Yevgeny Kiselyov, Ukrainian media reports.

Kiselyov told the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper that he had arrived at Borispol airport on Thursday, but was not allowed to cross the border. The border guards gave him a deportation order issued by an authorized body.

Kiselyov has a permanent residence permit in Ukraine and makes his own program called “Inter” on Ukrainian television. The next episode of his program is due to go on air on Friday.

Another Ukrainian publication, Telekritika, says that Ukraine’s Security Service banned the journalist from entering Ukraine as early as September 12.

“I am now staying at Borispol airport. The border guards told me that I was forbidden from entering Ukraine. They cannot explain why. I was told that Ukraine’s Security Service passed a decision on me on September 12,” Telekritika quotes Kiselyov as saying.

Ukrainska Pravda, however, has tweeted referring to Ukraine’s Security Service that Kiselyov was allegedly banned from entering the country by mistake.
