VLADIVOSTOK, March 15. /TASS/. Coastal antimissile systems Bastion were deployed to protect Crimea, Russian President Vladimir Putin admitted in an interview with the authors of the documentary Crimea. The Path to the Motherland that was aired by Russia’s television channel Rossiya 1 on Sunday.

"The Bastion antimissile systems are high precision weapons. At a certain point, we deployed the Bastion systems in such a way that they were seen perfectly well from outer space," the Russian president noted.

"It cannot be done at a decision of anyone but the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. Bastion systems are defensive systems that protect the coastline, protect territories. They are believed to be the most efficient coastal systems in the world as of today. So, at a certain point, we deployed these coastal systems Bastion to make it clear that Crimea was under safe protection," Putin underscored.
