MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. Russia is now ranked among Georgia’s top three trade partners, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday after a meeting in Prague between Russia’s State Secretary and Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin and Georgian Prime Minister’s envoy for relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze.

"The two diplomats noted positive dynamics of bilateral trade," the ministry said. "Russia is now ranked among Georgia’s top three trade partners. One of the factors of growth was the opening of the Russian market for Georgian goods, including wines and farming products."

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the two countries were developing business relations all through 2014. Apart from that, they maintained humanitarian contacts, including cultural, sports, research and religious ones. "All this is a visible result of the implementation of agreements, including on lifting trade restrictions, resuming land and regular air service," the ministry said.

The two diplomats exchanged view on the pace of preparations for the implementation of the bilateral agreement on customs administration and trade monitoring of 2011, which reiterated the sides’ commitment to finalize the work as soon as possible.

"The sides expressed confidence that despite the existing differences in approaches to key political problems the atmosphere of the ‘Prague dialogue’ makes it possible to solve practical issues of bilateral relations," the Russian Foreign Ministry underscored.
