MOSCOW February 16. /TASS/. Russia and Libya are set to fight terrorist groups in Libya uncompromisingly in light of the murder of Coptic Christians by the Islamic State militants in the country, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

Russian president’s special Middle East and Africa envoy, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with Director of the Libyan prime minister’s office Mahmoud Abu-Bahia.

"They focused on the development of the internal political situation in Libya in the context of international efforts to resolve the country’s crisis," the ministry said. "They voiced mutual support to the uncompromising fight against the terrorist groups in Libya, including in connection with the barbaric murder of 21 Coptic Christian Egyptians by the Islamic State supporters."

The sides also discussed prospects for the advancement of bilateral cooperation in various fields.
