MOSCOW, January 22. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) is to submit to the Russian government a draft federal space program and a program of development of space centers by May, Igor Komarov, the newly appointed head of the Federal Space Agency and the head of the United Rocket and Space Corporation (ORKK), said on Thursday.

“We are to submit to the government a draft federal space program and a program of development of Russian space center by May,” he said.

It was announced on Wednesday that Roscosmos and the ORKK would be merged into a single state corporation. Also, it was announced that Komarov succeeded Oleg Ostapenko as the head of the Federal Space Agency. According to earlier reports, Komarov is seen as the head of the new state corporation.

Oleg Ostapenko, the former chief of the federal space agency Roskosmos, may become a member of the board of directors of a new state corporation Roskosmos, which is currently being created, Dmitry Rogozin said.

Russia’s newly created state space industry corporation Roscosmos will have a smaller staff than the total personnel of the Federal Space Agency and the ORKK, on the basis of which the revamped Roscosmos is being formed, the CEO of the company, Igor Koramov, said.
