Russian opposition party leader against unauthorised action in support of Navalny brothers

Opposition activist Alexey Navalny was sentenced to 3.5 years in suspension, his brother Oleg Navalny to 3.5 years in jail

MOSCOW, December 30. /TASS/. Yabloko Party leader Sergey Mitrokhin opposes an unauthorised action in central Moscow in support of brothers Alexey and Oleg Navalny planned on Tuesday evening, the party leader said in a statement available for TASS.

Mitrokhin doubts that it is needed to give a response to the Tuesday court verdict by holding some unauthorised actions, the statement text noted.

“Those who urge people to take spontaneous actions in an outburst of emotions today...are not going to take responsibility for sufferings and ruined fates. They are guided by Bolshevistic principles “the worse, the better” and “the goal justifies its means,” Mitrokhin noted, adding that “this tactics is not only immoral, but also ineffective.”

Moscow district court handed down a guilty verdict in the fraud case against the Navalny brothers on Tuesday. Opposition activist Alexey Navalny was sentenced to 3.5 years in suspension, his brother Oleg Navalny to 3.5 years in jail. Meanwhile, the court levied more than four million rubles ($77.6 thousand) on a lawsuit from the injured party - the Multi-Profile Processing Company, and fined 500 thousand rubles ($8.8 thousand) each of them.
