MOSCOW, December 23. /TASS/. Ukraine’s plans to give up a non-aligned status are counterproductive and only “fuels up the situation,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

“This is counterproductive. This only flares up confrontation and creates an illusion that this is possible to settle a deep domestic crisis in Ukraine by enacting such laws,” he noted. “This is a much more productive path, reasonable way to start dialogue finally with those people who were totally ignored when a state coup was staged,” Lavrov said with confidence.

“There is no other way, but a constitutional reform involving all regions, all Ukrainian political forces capable to set a correct tone,” the minister said.

Lavrov recalled that Ukrainian leadership had signed precisely for a commitment to launch such reform back in April.
