Crimean Tatar Mejlis office in Sevastopol searched over violations — ministry

MOSCOW, September 24. /ITAR-TASS/. The search of the building that houses the Crimean Tatar People’s Mejlis central office and Crimea Foundation (Fond Krym) charity (in the city of Simferopol) was made over violation of Russia’s legislation by the organizations, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

The ministry said that on September 16, “Law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Crimea, under the decision of the Central District Court of Simferopol, conducted special investigation activities” in the organizations’ offices “in accordance with the Russian law”.

“Law enforcers confiscated several hard disks, extremist literature, documents and firearms (relevant reports were made by Crimean and foreign media),” the Foreign Ministry said.

According to law enforcement agencies, these organizations violated Russia’s laws "on non-governmental organizations" and "on state registration of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs".

“With invariable respect for and support of ethnic organizations’ activity, we call for their strict compliance with the Russian legislation,” the ministry said. “The Russian Federation law requirements are mandatory for everyone without exception,” the ministry added.
