FSB chief thanks foreign partners for efforts to prevent terrorist attacks during Olympics

SOCHI, April 09. /ITAR-TASS/. During preparations for the Olympic Games in Sochi, a number of terrorist attacks had been prevented, Head of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Alexander Bortnikov told a conference of heads of security and law enforcement bodies of foreign countries, which are FSB partners in the struggle against terrorism.

"The planned terrorist attacks were prevented thanks to cooperation between the Russian security services and the security services of other countries", Bortnikov said. As an example, he mentioned concrete efforts, taken by Russian FSB with its colleagues from the United States, Austria, Germany and Georgia, against a group of persons who had planned terrorist attacks on the Olympic facilities in Sochi. The threat of the terrorist attacks was averted thanks to the joint efforts," Bortnikov stressed. He thanked his foreign colleagues for cooperation and confidence.
