Russia delivers third Tor-M2 AA battery to Belarus

The republic is to form a full-fledged division that is based on absolutely new models of military hardware

MINSK, December 10. /ITAR-TASS/. The third battery of the air defense system Tor-M2 was delivered to the Air Force and the Air Defense Troops of the Republic of Belarus from Russia, Commander of the Belarusian Air Force and the Air Defense Troops Oleg Dvigalev told reporters on Tuesday.

“The battery was delivered to Belarus and it is staying in Minsk,” he said, noting that after all required procedures the military formation would be redeployed to the Belarusian airbase in Baranovichi. After the third battery of the air defense system Tor-M2 had been delivered to Belarus the republic will form a full-fledged division that is based on absolutely new models of military hardware, Dvigalev said.

The first battery of the air defence system Tor-M2 was delivered to the republic in December 2011 and the second battery was supplied in 2012. Third battery will be also put into service of the 120th air defence missile brigade in Baranovichi.

Russia is the Belarusian main partner in the supplies of military products (weapons and military hardware, spare parts to them, the maintenance and modernization) for the needs of the Belarusian Armed Forces, particularly on the terms beneficial for Belarus.
