Russia may reduce gas price for Ukraine to $348 per thousand cubic meters — minister

According to data provided by Gazprom, gas price for Ukraine in Q1 2015 totals $329 for one thousand cubic meters

BRUSSELS, March 20. /TASS/. Undiscounted price for Russian gas for Ukraine in the second quarter of 2015 may total $348 per one thousand cubic meters, according to preliminary estimations, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said before the start of trilateral gas talks between Russia, the EU and Ukraine in Brussels Friday.

"For the second quarter, the price will approximately total $348 per one thousand cubic meters, according to the contract formula," he said, adding that volatile oil prices may still influence the price.

According to data provided by Gazprom, gas price for Ukraine in Q1 2015 totals $329 for one thousand cubic meters.

The minister also said that Ukraine’ debt for Russian gas "including the main debt, penalty fees and fines" today stands at $2.47 bln. In February it was reported that the debt totaled $2.44 billion.

Earlier Novak said that "the formula price in the second quarter may be such that will suit all." Speaking about possible terms of the summer package, Novak then said that eventually Ukraine may not need a discount in the second quarter.

In Q4 2014, gas price for Ukraine equaled to around $378 per one thousand cubic meters.
