Russia remains Ukraine’s major trading partner in 2014 — Ukrainian statistics service

Poland, Belarus and Turkey are also Ukraine’s leading trading partners, while the United States is in the 10th place with the trade volume of $2.59 billion

KIEV, February 17. /TASS/. Russia remained Ukraine’s most important trading partner last year, with bilateral trade volume of $22.4 billion, compared with $38.2 billion in 2013, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said on Tuesday.

Russia, China and Germany were among the top three major trading partners of Ukraine in 2014, according to the service. Ukraine’s trade turnover with China and Germany last year reached $8.1 billion and $6.9 billion, against $10.6 billion and $8.4 billion in 2013.

Poland, Belarus and Turkey are also Ukraine’s leading trading partners, while the United States is in the 10th place with the trade volume of $2.59 billion. The US, which was Ukraine’s 8th largest trading partner in 2013, has given its place to Hungary and Egypt.

Last year, Russia ($9.8 billion), Turkey ($3.56 billion) and Egypt ($2.86 billion) were the major buyers of Ukrainian goods.

According to the statistics service, in 2014 the import of Ukrainian goods surpassed the export by $468.3 million compared with $13 billion in the previous year. The export of goods declined by over $8 billion to $53.91 billion, while the import fell by $21.45 billion to $54.38 billion.
