Russia not ready to restructure Ukraine’s debt despite Kiev's requests — finance minister

It's important for Russia to get back the funds invested in Ukraine’s bonds

ISTANBUL, February 10. /TASS/. Ukraine asked Russia to restructure its debt in January 2015 but Moscow is not ready for such a step, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told journalists on Tuesday.

"Ukraine has asked to restructure its debts. I had talks on that matter with my Ukrainian counterpart," he said, adding that Russia is not ready for that.

"We are not in a state to afford to lose such liabilities. It is important for us to get back our resources we once invested in Ukraine’s bonds. That is why we are not ready to grant any deferment in repaying the debt," he said.
