General Prosecutor Yury Chaika has instructed the prosecutor's offices across the Russian Federation to organize price checks between January 20-23

MOSCOW, January 22./TASS/ Russia's General Prosecutor's Office is set to conduct investigations into rising food prices, agency spokesperson Marina Gridneva told TASS on Wednesday.

"The General Prosecutor's office is implementing a series of measures aimed at combating regulation violations that contribute to the rise of food prices, under the current export sanctions. The results of this project indicate that there is a nationwide growth in prices for certain food items such as pork, beef, chicken, fish, eggs, buckwheat, rice, milk, sunflower oil, sugar, cheese, potatoes, cabbage and others, ranging from 10% to 150%," Gridneva said.

"General Prosecutor Yury Chaika has instructed the prosecutor's offices across the Russian Federation to organize price checks between January 20-23, that would be aimed at detecting and suppressing price violations on the market and large chain stores, located throughout Russia," Gridneva said.
