EU wants concrete positive shifts in Ukraine before preparing more financial aid to Kiev

A third tranche worth about €250 million may be issued in January-February 2015 under the current EU programs of macro-financial aid to Ukraine

BRUSSELS, December 15 /TASS/. The European Commission wants to see concrete results of Ukrainian reforms before it starts preparing a third financial aid package to Kiev, Johannes Hahn, EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement, said on Monday.

Further financial aid will follow if the Ukraine government achieves concrete results, Hahn clarified.

He called for convening an international Conference of Ukraine’s Donors.

A third tranche worth about €250 million may be issued in January-February 2015 under the current EU programs of macro-financial aid to Ukraine.

The Ukraine crisis will be discussed at the EU summit and the scarcity of funds in Ukraine will also be part of the agenda, the European Commission said.

This year, the European Commission has appropriated about €1.8 million in the form of soft credits under two financial aid programs.

Kiev hopes to receive additional €2 billion from the European Union.
