BELGRADE, December 5. /TASS/. The South Stream pipeline construction is needed for Serbia’s energy security, Serbian Prime Minister Alexandar Vucic said in an interview on RTS television.

The decision to drop the project is bad news for Serbia. It threatens the country’s energy security, he said.

The premier asked people in Serbia not to worry about this winter and the next winter as well, assuring a solution would be found.

Of course, it would be better if the South Stream pipeline was built. Serbia has always supported the project, and nobody blames Serbia, Vucic said.

“We will find a solution. People should not worry. I expect that I will talk with (Serbian) President Nicolic tomorrow in the evening, and I think, also with President Putin in the next few days to understand why such a final decision was taken,” he said, adding that Russia’s decision to drop the project affected Serbia and Hungary most of all.
