Norway lets Russian plane cross its airspace due to emergency on board

The media reported that a Boeing 777 of Nordwind Airlines was en route from Moscow to the resort town of Varadero in Cuba

STOCKHOLM, December 18. /TASS/. Norwegian authorities have allowed a plane of Nordwind Airlines to return to Moscow through the country’s airspace because of an emergency on board, the NRK TV channel reports.

"A medical emergency on board enables it to get permission to use Norwegian airspace," the channel quoted Catherine Framholt, a spokesperson for Avinor, which manages most of Norway's airports, as saying. According to the official, the flight is returning to Moscow.

As NRK reports, a Boeing 777 of Nordwind Airlines was en route from Moscow to the resort town of Varadero in Cuba. Avinor recalled that since February 28, 2022, the Norwegian authorities had banned all Russian aircraft from using the national airspace.
