Passenger liner overruns runway at Norilsk airport, says source

Nobody was hurt

MOSCOW, May 6. /TASS/. A passenger plane of the Nordstar airlines has overrun the runway at the airport of Norilsk on Monday morning, emergency services told TASS.

The incident occurred at 13:25 local time (9:25 Moscow time). There were 100 passengers and six crew on board. Nobody was hurt, the source said. The flight was from Krasnoyarsk.

The incident might have been caused by bad weather and strong side wind. In the north of the region a weather alert has been in effect since Sunday evening due to very strong wind, up to 27 meters per second, a blizzard and poor visibility of less than 1,000 meters. The airport opens when the weather permits.

An investigation of the incident is in progress, the West Siberian prosecutor’s office told TASS.
