State of emergency declared in Russia’s Trans-Baikal Region due to wildfires

Over 30 resident buildings have been lost in the fire in the Ust-Malku settlement of the region

MOSCOW, April 19. /TASS/. A state of emergency has been declared in Russia’s Trans-Baikal Region due to wildfires, the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s press service informed TASS.

"A state of emergency has been introduced on the territory of the Trans-Baikal Region," the source said.

Over 30 resident buildings have been lost in the fire in the Ust-Malku settlement of the region. All 53 residents of the settlement have been evacuated to a nearby settlement and placed in a temporary accommodation center. According to preliminary data, there have been no casualties in the fire.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry has prepared aircrafts to help extinguish the wildfire. A special task force has been sent to the region.
