The number of terrorism-related crimes in Russia decreased almost 100 times in 10 years as a result of work carried out by authorities and public organizations, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said on Thursday at the opening of the conference for countering international terrorism led by the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.

"We can see that the joint efforts of the authorities and religious and public organizations of our country bring results. The number of terrorism-related crimes in Russia fell over the past 10 years. Think over this figure - almost 100 times," she said.

The speaker noted that "understanding and peace between representatives for various religions and nationalities is a traditional feature of Russian statehood."
