Russian FSB, police seize 37 pistols and assault rifles from arms dealer

The arms trader created a workshop where he upgraded the purchased weapons transforming them into their combat-ready analogues

YEKATERINBURG, April 17. /TASS/. The Russian FSB agents and police detained an arms trader in the Sverdlovsk Region and seized 37 firearms, including assault rifles and pistols, the statement issued by the regional FSB agency’s press service reads.

"The FSB agents together with their regional colleagues and law enforcement officers of the Interior Ministry foiled the activity of a Russian citizen who had established an illegal workshop to manufacture and modernize weapons and armaments for sale. 37 firearms were seized," the statement says.

The arms trader created a workshop where he upgraded the purchased weapons transforming them into their combat-ready analogues. Among the seized firearms were eleven AK assault rifles, one RPD machine gun, one SKS semi-automatic carbine, SMGs, pistols and revolvers. The Sverdlovsk Region Internal Ministry office is already investigating the case. "The special operation of the Internal Ministry and the FSB was carried out as a regularly scheduled "Arsenal" operation. The seized weapons were sent to expertise to run tests on them and receive official findings. This is by far not the only case of the successful cooperation between the police and our partners from the FSB," the regional police Spokesman Valery Gorelykh told TASS.
