Unidentified individuals throw grenade at police booth near Russian Embassy in Athens

ATHENS, March 22. /TASS/. Unidentified individuals threw a grenade at a police booth near the Russian Embassy in Athens last night, the embassy’s Press Attache Vasily Gavrilov informed TASS.

"The unknown individuals driving a motorcycle near the embassy’s Consular Department at about 03:30 threw an explosive device, presumably a grenade, at a police booth. The device went off. The booth suffered minor damage. Nobody was injured," Gavrilov said.

He added that the incident had occurred in Athens’ Chalandri suburb, where the embassy’s Consular Department is located. "The booth is located near the Consular Department’s building. The explosive device was thrown at the booth, which is located in the street, not on the premises of the diplomatic mission," Gavrilov said.

According to the press attache, the area around the Consular Department has been cordoned off by the police. An investigation is underway.
