Three Russians were onboard crashed Ethiopian plane, airline says

Nationals of 33 countries are on the lists of those killed

MOSCOW, March 10. /TASS/. Three Russian nationals were onboard the Ethiopian Airlines’ plane, which crashed on Sunday morning shortly after taking off from Addis Ababa to Kenya’s Nairobi, the airline’s representatives told a news conference.

Nationals of 33 countries are on the lists of those killed. The plane carried 149 passengers and eight crew members.

According to the Ethiopian Airlines Group, among those dead are 18 Canadians, 9 Ethiopians, 8 Italians, 8 Chinese, 8 Americans, 7 British, 7 French, 6 Egyptians, 5 Dutch, 4 New Zealanders, 4 Indians, 4 Slovaks, 3 Austrians, 3 Swedes, 3 Russians, 2 Moroccans, 2 Spanish, 2 Israelis and one Belgian. Three more passengers had UN passports and their nationality is being identified.

The Boeing 737 en route from Ethiopia’s capital of Addis Ababa to Kenya’s Nairobi crashed on Sunday morning near Debre Zeit in central Ethiopia. The plane lost contact six minutes after takeoff, the airline said. There were 149 passengers and 8 crew members onboard the plane. There are no survivors in the crash.
