Fire in central Moscow: 2 people dead, fire area reaches 2,000 sq. meters

Six people have been rescued

MOSCOW, February 4. /TASS/. A historical building is burning in central Moscow. According to a source with emergency services the fire area in the house on Nikitsky Boulevard now has reached 2,000 square meters.

"The fire area in the burning house located on Nikitsky Boulevard, 12, had grown from 200 square meters to 2,000 square meters. This was facilitated by the wooden floors in this building," the source said.

By now, it is known that the fire has killed two people. Six people have been rescued. The fire started in the apartment on the fifth floor, but at the moment the fire spread to the sixth.

The burning house is a residential building built in 1912. This has the status of "a cultural heritage site." The house has more than 100 residential apartments.
