Putin thanks rescuers for selfless work in Magnitogorsk

Officially, the death of nine people has been confirmed, more than 30 people are still unaccounted for

MOSCOW, January 1. /TASS/. In telephone talks with officers of the Emergencies Ministry, Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked all rescuers for their selfless work at the site of the collapsed residential building in Magnitogorsk, the Kremlin press office reported on Tuesday.

A section of a ten-storey apartment block collapsed in Magnitogorsk on December 31. Officially, the death of nine people has been confirmed.

More than 30 people are still unaccounted for. The Russian Investigative Committee views a household gas explosion as the main cause of the accident.
