From 8 to 15 hurt in church attack in Vienna, police say terror attack ruled out

The exact reason for the incident has not yet been identified

MOSCOW, December 27. /TASS/. /TASS/. From eight to 15 people received serious injuries in a church attack in Vienna, the Kurier newspaper said on Thursday citing sources in the rescue services.

Police said earlier that churchgoers in Vienna’s 21st district were attacked by unidentified persons on Thursday evening. The attackers robbed the worshipers and fled the scene.

Police have blocked adjacent streets and are taking effort to detain the two criminals.

Meanwhile a Vienna police spokesman said it was not a terror attack.

"The exact reason for the incident is not yet identified. But in any case, a possible terrorist motive is ruled out," he said.
