Diver Syachrul Anto, aged 48, died due to decompression issues

SINGAPORE, November 3. /TASS/. An Indonesian diver has died during the search and rescue operation for the crashed Lion Air plane, The Straits Times reported on Saturday.

According to the commander of the search and rescue task force Col. Isswarto, diver Syachrul Anto, aged 48, died due to decompression issues. The Detik news portal noted that Anto was a very experienced diver, as he participated in the search and rescue operation for the crashed AirAsia plane in 2014. Moreover, the diver just recently returned from Sulawesi where he was assisting in search and rescue works after the powerful earthquake in September.

On Thursday rescuers successfully retrieved the plane's black box from the depth of 30 meters and sent it for deciphering. According to Indonesian authorities, the process will take around one-two weeks, after which it will be possible to determine the preliminary cause of the crash.

On Monday, October 29, Lion Air Flight JT610 flew from Jakarta to Pangkal Pinang (capital of the province of the Bangka Belitung Islands). The Boeing 737 crashed into the Java Sea 13 minutes after taking off. All 189 people on board died in the crash.
