Firefighter dies when extinguishing fire at metallurgy plant in Russia's south

MOSCOW, October 21. /TASS/. A firefighter has died when extinguishing fire at the Electrotsink metallurgy plant in Vladikavkaz in the south of Russia, first deputy head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry's branch in North Ossetia Yury Zemlyansky said on Sunday.

"One firefighter died when extinguishing fire," Zemlyansky said.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry's main department in North Ossetia told TASS that two firefighters were also injured in the fire.

It was earlier reported that the area of fire is currently around 650 square meters. Fifty people and 18 units of equipment are working at the fire site.

The Electrotsink plant is one of the largest metallurgy plants in Russia. It manufactures metals and chemical compounds.
