ST. PETERSBURG, May 30 (Itar-Tass) - At the presentation of a design sketch of Olympic and Paralympic medals in the Russian northern capital Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak stated that St. Petersburg can bid for being the capital of the Summer Olympics-2024. “The decision to this effect can be made in 2015,” he said.
Dmitry Kozak acknowledged that he did not doubt about the choice of the design sketch of the medals.
“The contest lasted 30 seconds for me. I chose the medal immediately,” he said.
“Today it is no easy day for me, one of elements of an enormous work is over,” he went on to say, naming the Olympic medal as “a desirable object”.
Kozak congratulated the organizing committee Sochi-2014 and the authors, who have made the design sketches. “We are getting closely to the end of the preparations. I am convinced that the Olympic Games will be perfect as Olympic medals,” he added.
“The Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved the design sketches of the medals, and we will begin to make medals,” the deputy prime minister said.
