Russia's Arkhangelsk may host Arctic culture summit — governor

The Arctic culture summit is planned for in 2019

MOSCOW, April 11. /TASS/. The Arkhangelsk Region’s Governor Igor Orlov in an address to the regional legislators said the region may host the Arctic culture summit, which is due at the Arctic forum in Arkhangelsk in 2019.

"I think, we should begin preparations now to open during the Arctic Forum in 2019 the Arctic culture summit, which will be a professional conference not only for the Arctic region’s officials in the culture sphere, but also for representatives of the cultural communities and creative industries, for representatives of museums, theaters, libraries, concert halls, for the media and for representatives of national cultural institutions," the regional government’s press service quoted the governor as saying.

The cultural summit would be a new step in development of the brand - Arkhangelsk is the Arctic’s cultural capital, the governor added.

"We should also remember about formation of the region’s positive image," he continued. "The Arctic cultural summit should become a locomotive in development of the ‘location’s marketing’."

"Forming the regional cultural brands is a most important instrument in competition among cities and regions to attract and use effectively the quality human resources and, thus, investments in the region," the governor said.
