MOSCOW, April 11. /TASS/. The total investments in the Murmansk Region’s mining industries to 2022 may make more than 100 billion rubles ($1.57 bln), the region’s Deputy Governor Alexei Tukavin told a plenary session at a mining industry show on Wednesday.
"[We have] the biggest investment programs from the mining companies in the Murmansk Region to 2022," he said. "The total investments exceed 100 billion rubles."
According to the deputy governor, the mining companies account for about 25% of the Murmansk Gross Regional Product. In 2017, the companies’ production was worth 160 billion rubles ($2.51 billion), showing an 8-percent growth year-on-year.
Those companies employ more than 20,000 people - about 8% of the labor force in the Murmansk Region, the official said.
