Rosneft says may be involved in upgrading Cuban refinery

In May-June 2017, Rosneft supplied 200,000 tonnes of oil to Cuba

MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. Chief Executive Officer of Rosneft Igor Sechin met President of the Council of State of Cuba Raul Castro during his trip to Latin America to discuss cooperation in the oil industry, Russia’s top oil producer reported Monday.

Particularly, the sides considered potential partnership to upgrade the Cienfuegos oil refinery, the company said. They also discussed supplies of oil and petroleum products to Cuba, implementation of joint onshore production projects and the potential of offshore projects.

In May-June 2017, Rosneft supplied 200,000 tonnes of oil to Cuba. In November, the Russian company and Cuba’s Cubametales inked an agreement on further supplies of oil and oil products to Cuba.
