Promoting Arctic tourism and culture tops agenda at Murmansk-hosted forum

An international forum, devoted to development of tourism and culture in the Arctic, will bring together at the Murmansk Arctic State University specialists from Russia and abroad

MURMANSK, November 27. /TASS/. An international forum, devoted to development of tourism and culture in the Arctic, will bring together at the Murmansk Arctic State University specialists from Russia and abroad, the University’s press service said on Monday, adding the event is due from November 29 to December 1.

"The Murmansk Arctic State University will host an international forum, dubbed Creative Industries of the Arctic Region: Experience and Future," the press service said. "The presentations will feature works by specialists from St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Barnaul, Simferopol, Murmansk, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, Kostroma, Omsk, Petrozavodsk, Syktyvkar, Ulyanovsk, as well as from Finland, Norway and Germany."

The forum’s organizer is the Murmansk University in partnership with the National Fund for Training, supported by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. The agenda includes discussions related to development of the Arctic regions, environment aspects, the Northern design, and culture education. One of the keynote topics would be the role of backbone universities in the regional development, as well as recreation and cultural projects in the Arctic. The delegates will learn about the ecology design, the North’s national crafts and dress, Arctic research and so forth.

The forum organizers will invite delegates and participants to attend master classes, lectures and exhibitions.
