The Norilsk Nickel Company will invest 30 million rubles ($525,797) in modernization of the outdated Tukhard village in Taimyr, north of the Krasnoyarsk territory, within the current year already, aide to Taimyr’s head Anfisa Nikiforova told participants in a round table of the association of the low-numbered indigenous peoples of the North.
"In 2017-2019, the company will allocate for this project 90 million rubles ($1,578,007) - 30 million every year," she said. According to her, the company’s money was forwarded for construction of 2,250 square meters of new housing.
Another investor in this project, the Yenisei United Bank, as yet has not specified form of its participation. "They are still considered to be parties to the project, but forms of their participation are not specified yet," the aide said.
Besides, Acting Director of Norilsk Nickel’s branch in Krasnoyarsk Alexander Lobanov said the Norilskgazprom Company has prepared a project to construct a solid waste landfill near Tukhard, though did not disclose further details.
Nowadays, practically all houses in the Tukhard village are outdated and not suitable for living. Besides, nomadic peoples have to live in unsuitable conditions - in the so-called barrels and balkas, which initially were built as temporary accommodation for exploring geologists, working in Taimyr.
In the XX century, indigenous low-numbered peoples used to settle next to facilities of Norilskgazprom (Norilsk Nickel’s branch) due to affordable communications and conveniences. And only later on, the Krasnoyarsk territory decided to organize a village, which till now does not offer social facilities, cultural or educational institutions.
TASS reported earlier, investments in renovation of the Tukhard outdated village in the Krasnoyarsk territory would make about 300 million rubles. The money will come from the Norilsk Nickel Company, the local budget and from the Yenisei United Bank. An agreement on the project was inked in April during the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum. The village’s population is about 800 people.
