Putin urges to prevent squandering or direct embezzlement of budget funds

MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. The prosecutor's office should strengthen control over the spending of budgetary funds and prevent their squandering and direct embezzlement, Russian President Vladimir Putin said speaking at an expanded meeting of the board of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

"In the field of public procurement, implementation of the defense contract, state property management and the implementation of infrastructure projects, it is necessary to further strengthen control, to toughen financial discipline, to prevent the misuse of budget funds, their squandering or direct embezzlement," the head of state said.

Putin instructed the Prosecutor General's Office to closely cooperate on this issue with all the relevant ministries and departments, work together with the Federal Security Service (FSB), the Interior Ministry, the tax service and Russian financial monitoring.
