Volkswagen to recall 42 Lamborghini cars in Russia due to flame outbreak possibility

All the repair work will be free of charge for owners

MOSCOW, March 1. /TASS/. Russian dealer of Lamborghini automobiles will recall 42 Lamborghini Aventador (Coupe, Roadster), Veneno (Coupe, Roadster) and Aventador J cars, Russia’s Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology (Rosstandart) said on Wednesday. Cars sold from 2012 to 2017 will be subject to recall, the agency said.

"A possibility of fuel ingress into the carbon canister of the fuel vapor trapping system (EVAP) exists in brand automobiles in case of fuel tank overfilling at the gas station and in certain operating conditions. This may adversely affect EVAP system serviceability," the regulator reported.

Malfunctions in the EVAP system may entail insufficient consumption of fuel vapors, Rosstandart said. Fuel vapors may mix with hot gases and a flame outbreak hazard occurs in such case when making certain maneuvers, for example, when keeping maximal revolutions at idle.

Fuel vapor recovery system will be improved at the said vehicles during the recalling campaign using a package of additional components and by replacement of AKF valves. Driveline software will also be updated.

All the repair work will be free of charge for owners.
