ABU-DHABI, February 21. /TASS/. Russia and the United Arab Emirates are to begin work in the field of military-technical cooperation within the framework of the recently signed agreements in 2018, Deputy CEO Rosoboronexport Igor Sevastianov stated.
"Work on implementing the agreements signed with the UAE starts in 2018", he said during the 13th International Defense Exhibition IDEX-2017.
Sevastianov noted that a number of countries are interested in the new Russian Su-135 jet fighter. "The results of using the Su-135 in Syria have stirred up some countries’ interest, including the Emirates, to buy these jet fighters. We are holding negotiations on the SU-35 export," the deputy CEO added.
Yesterday, Minister of Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, claimed that Russia and the UAE had signed an agreement on the development of industrial cooperation in the field of military-technical production. According to him, this provides an opportunity to develop a joint project on the fifth generation light jet fighter. Rostec Corporation CEO Sergey Chemezov added that the joint project on the creation of the aircraft is to start in 2018.
