Gazprom ready to exchange letters with Ukraine’s Naftogaz to guarantee gas deliveries

MOSCOW, December 21. /TASS/. Russia’s gas producer Gazprom is against the signing of the supplement agreement to the contract on gas supplies to Ukraine, though it is ready to exchange letters with Naftogaz to guarantee gas deliveries to the country, Russia’s Energy Minister Alexander Novak said Wednesday.

"Naftogaz is insisting on the supplement agreement, whereas Gazprom is totally against it. We support Gazprom’s position as the sides are at law. Gazprom proposes to exchange letters with Naftogaz to meet Naftogaz’ concern over the prepayment," he said.

The price of gas for Ukraine in the Q1 of 2017 is likely to be higher due to growth of oil prices, Novak stressed:

"According to my estimates, there will be a slight increase."
