Senator says more states taking interest in cooperation with Eurasian Economic Union

MOSCOW, December 20. /TASS/. Around 40 countries are interested in the cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which has become a response to the recent global economic shocks, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko said at a meeting with Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC, a permanent supranational regulatory body of the Union) Tigran Sargsyan on Tuesday.

"Around 40 states are taking interest in the cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union to some extent," she said.

According to Matvienko, the recent shocks in the global economy demonstrated that the integrations and forms of cooperation that previously seemed unshakable, have shown their vulnerability. "The integration that has been created is the response to negative processes and a potential ability to strengthen our positions," she added.
