Accounts Chamber detects violations for $14.1 bln in 2016

Roscomos (Russian space agency), the Federal Customs Service and the Agriculture Ministry were the main wrongdoers in 2016

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Russia’s Accounts Chamber has detected various violations for the sum of 870 bln rubles ($14.1 bln) in 2016, Accounts Chamber’s Chairwoman Tatiana Golikova told reporters.

"Although some events have not been summed up yet, in 2016, we completed 319 control and expert checks inspecting more than 2 million entities. As a result of these activities violations for the sum of 870 billion rubles were revealed. I would like to say it right away that 870 billion rubles is not the sum of the money stolen or that was used in some other bad ways. This figure covers all violations, including inefficient use of funds," she said.

According to Golikova, Russian space agency, the Federal Customs Service and the Agriculture Ministry were the main wrongdoers in 2016. She added that breaches were registered in various fields, in particular in investment sector, procurement sector.

Golikova said that these are the results based on the data that was provided by mid-December and the final results will be made later.
