PM Medvedev expects economic growth next year

This year, a slight decline of Russia’s GDP is possible - slightly below 1%, according to Medvedev

MOSCOW, December 15. /TASS/. Economic decline in 2016 will reach around 0.5%, growth of GDP will begin next year, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with Russian television channels.

"Macroeconomic indicators could be better. This year, a slight decline of Russia’s GDP is possible - slightly below 1%, maybe 0.5%, we need to finalize the results. Next year, in regard to all our indicators, our economy will begin growth," Medvedev said.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development to the updated forecast for 2016, GDP decline of 0.6%. Since 2017, the Economic Development Ministry predicts economic recovery growth. Thus, according to the "basic" MED forecast GDP growth in 2017 will be 0.2%, in 2018 - 0.9% and in 2018 - 1.2%. According to the forecast, "basic plus", which the Office considered the most realistic GDP growth in 2017 will be 1.1%, in 2018 - 1.8% and in 2019 - 2.4%.
