Increased risk of cyber attacks against Russian banks to continue until January holidays, the bank says

MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. The level of protection of Russian banks against threats is adequate, Deputy Head of the Security Control and Data Protection department at Russia's Central Bank Artyom Sychev told reporters.

"The level of banks’ protection is currently is roughly adequate to the existing threats. Yes, some had more work done than others in terms of security. But I wouldn’t say that some group of banks is more prone to threats," he said.

The Central Bank reported many cyber attacks, no powerful attacks in past year. Increased risk of cyber attacks against Russian banks to continue until January holidays.

"The risks remain elevated - I think it will last at least until the New Year's holidays. The holidays is a good time for fraudsters to become more active," he said.

Sychev added that the Central Bank realizes that "December is always difficult, and therefore urges banks to be more careful."
