Tax hike may put pressure on Gazprom’s profitability on domestic market

MOSCOW, December 6. /TASS/. Gazprom’s operations on the domestic market may become unprofitable for the company in case the tax burden is increased, Deputy Chairman of management committee Valery Golubev said Tuesday.

"The Finance Ministry is initiating an increase of the tax burden for Gazprom via rising the mineral extraction tax. If this decision is made the domestic market will become unprofitable for us," he said, adding that this will affect geological exploration and gas output.
